So how do we do this? How do we move forward and re-engage after a time of such introspection? After a time of such heated conflict? When elements of that conflict still exist and will continue to exist for some time? When relationships seem so much more fragile now than they used to be. When depth of relationship feels impossible?
When others scent, follow, and take on the aroma of Christ because of what they know and observe of our life and integrity, the trouble we endure is worth all the hardship, all the devastation, all the trials, all the conflicting emotions and difficulty. It is worth giving up possession of our own life, moment by moment, into the hands of the one who gives us his life. It is worth it all.
When I’m trying to do it myself, it’s because I believe I “should”. Like I owe someone something.
I don’t. And you don’t. All that we owe has already been paid.
It is interesting to me that there was even something for God to learn when he lived as a man, and that he learned it through suffering.
