But a gift sitting untouched on a shelf is still a gift. Letting it sit there is not the same as its absence. Perhaps we have to start looking in its direction to see it. To remember it….To let the Peace of Christ settle our hearts and minds and souls.
When I’m trying to do it myself, it’s because I believe I “should”. Like I owe someone something.
I don’t. And you don’t. All that we owe has already been paid.
We are accountable for the health of our hearts. Praise God that we are not solely responsible for its health, however. God does the work we are unable to do.

Rather than going to the Supplier of the seed, I have attempted to sow my own dead seed. Rather than letting God cause the growth, I have been seeking multiplied fruit from my own efforts, trying to be a branch detached from the Vine. No fruit comes from that.
I used to see the pride in our accomplishments, our hustle, our covering up of our vulnerability to show how awesome we are…how we have it all together. Well, we don’t. And now everyone knows it.
In layman’s terms, I think God is telling us here to enjoy our lives, pursuing that which satisfies rather than worrying about or striving for those things which He is already taking care of for us. God desires to give good things to His people, and that includes an abundant, full and satisfying life.
